Rotary Club of Webster

Meeting of 11/30/2017

The abbreviated Spoke!

I am guessing on attendance as I forgot to take notes until the speaker started because of trying to run the meeting and I forgot happy dollars too so……………..

Present: Dennis, Herb, Donna, Dolly K, Jim Isaac, Robert Williams, John Schuler, Brian, Bob, Spencer, Tom, Terry, Rich, Chuck Mertz, Karen Parkhurst, oh and me!

Bob lead us in the pledge and Robyn did the invocation(nowhere near as good as Ross does) and Spencer introduced our prospective member Robert Williams.

Herb reminded everyone that this was the last day of Foundation month if they wanted to make a contribution online.

Dolly, Tom, Brian and Spencer reported how much they enjoyed the Josie Waverly show and the good turnout for the fundraiser.

Robyn updated the group on Helen Rouff’s health situation

Chuck updated everyone on Carol’s situation and suggested visitors after 1pm at Heathwood Memory Care  on 250/441

Eastern Cities is this coming Tuesday if anyone is interested go to Rochester Rotary’s website to register

Brian will be ringing the bell for the Salvation army this Saturday the 2nd at White Christmas in the Village if anyone is interested in sharing the duty.

Rich updated the troop dinner for January 6th and also the Miracle Field check presentation on the 16th at 8:30am at the Rec Center.

Our speaker Karen Parkhurst shared her international project on the clean water project in La Palma Nicaragua that she is raising money for currently. She has done other projects in the area there and shared a slide show of the villages and the people there. Nicaragua is the 2nd poorest country in the world and the Rotary projects have brought over 500 solar ovens to the country along with potable water to the needy village. Many Rotary clubs (14) have partnered together to complete the last project so she is hoping other clubs will do so for this project. Our group mentioned that we are interested in a global project and would discuss it at the board meeting and then at the club level. Thank You Karen!

There was no 50/50 as we had no tickets or bell for the meeting so we chatted about leaving them at Penfield so we will double up at our next meeting on Dec 7th at 6:30 at Penfield Country Club for a club assembly.

Cheers!!!
